Day Trip to Akaroa from Christchurch is one of my favorite thing to do. Let me share some of the Akaroa highlights.

Only 8o km’s (1 hour 20 mins drive) from Christchurch, Akaroa is a charming seaside town with a population of 624. A nice stop about half way to Akaroa is a small village called Little River. In Little River is a great café called the ‘Tin Shed’ with a small gallery next door.

Akaroa was originally settled by the French in the early 1800’s and it is now a sleepy village on the shores of Akaroa Harbour. We can highly recommend the fish and chips at Murphy’s caravan located at the end of the wharf in the town centre and the ‘Giants House’ gallery and gardens.
